Sr ORION Systems Training Support Engineer I | Raytheon | Portsmouth, RI

WLED: The Whole Life Engineering Directorate (WLED) is made up of several disciplines whose main objective is to influence hardware and systems early in their life cycle to assure effective operation, reliability, maintainability and economical ownership by the customer and end user.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Training Specialist to develop and instruct curriculum for operation and maintenance of the ORION system. Coordinate courses between Raytheon stakeholders, students, and facilities personnel, where training conduct will occur. This position may require foreign travel. Position also requires assistance in the development of technical publications for operations and maintenance of ORION system.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The candidate will be responsible for assessing and defining training needs of the organization, developing training, scheduling classes and ensuring that the needed training is available to employees. Candidate will develop and track metrics and summarize performance to Center and Senior Management. Candidate will represent the training function on the ORION Organization Training Team.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Three or more years e xperience in creating training materials such as:
    • Theory-of-operation descriptions and functional diagrams
    • Troubleshooting procedures
    • Installation and removal procedures
    • Training guides and course materials
  • Knowledge of electro-optic and radar systems
  • Training experience to conduct technical training for US military and foreign customers. These courses will primarily be operations and maintenance for electro-optic and radar systems, but may also include analyst training and/or Computer Operations.
  • Technical writing skills
  • Basic understanding of electronic circuitry, assembly drawings, schematic diagrams and technical specifications
  • Ability to document the operation and maintenance of defense electronics hardware and software including generation of maintenance, test/troubleshooting procedures and some theory of operations
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications

Required Education (including Major):
Bachelors degree in electrical engineering, or an equivalent combination of experience, training and education ( experience can substitute for degree requirement).

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Fluency in Spanish
  • Experience in creating technical documents such as:
    • Theory-of-operation descriptions and functional diagrams
    • Troubleshooting procedures
    • Installation and removal procedures
    • Training guides and course materials
  • Ability to establish working relationships and coordinate with customers, understand their needs and provide timely solutions
  • Good oral communication and ability to make presentations in a classroom environment
